Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm way on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

Taste Testing...

No, No, not this kind of test, sillies! Surely some of you are old enough to remember this type of test screen that came on around 2 a.m, in the ol' days, right?

A n y w a y ~~~I did some serious grocery shopping, and lots of research online for tasty food that was lower in calories, and not too high in WW points. Sigh, Spring is coming, and the urge to purge some of this lard around my waist and butt has hit again. Once the Girl Scout cookies came into the house a couple of weeks ago, the war was lost....so onward, and upward, I try again. Hence, the shopping, now back to the story!

I don't normally make a habit of buying "frozen foods" as food is lower in salt and fat when cooked by my lily whites. (Granted, maybe not as tasty as the selections found in the freezer section at Wally world).

I get the Hungry Girl newsletters and they kept talking about the Healthy Choice Asian meals that are fairly new. They were on sale today, 2/$5.00, me being the cheap wench that I am, I bought one. (What if I didn't like it, what would I do with the other one)?
IT WAS GREAT! Healthy Choice, cafe selections, in a steamer bowl, Asian group. I came home with the Sweet Sesame Chicken, oh my goodness.

This particular meal was 7 points, but worth it. Veggies were crunchy, seasonings nice, rice, nice white meat chicken chunks. Needless to say, I'm going to try the other Asian chicken selections. We love Chinese, and I think Jim will like these too.

Something else that has been a hit with my choco-freak hubby, and I like too, are the Smart Ones, Weight Watcher desserts, in the red and white box. We like the strawberry shortcake, the chocolate chip cookie dough, and the peanut butter cup desserts. These aren't for every night, these are for when you gotta have a little sumthin' sumthin', or you will eat the entire content of the refrigerator.
These will save you from self destruction! Today's price was $1.88 for a box of two. That's one each for you and your dear spouse. If you aren't speaking to said spouse, that means two for you, and at a cost of only 4 points.
It's all about the points !! Okay, it's nice to share, I kinda sorta remember Mom saying something about that during childhood....

I'm totally going to try those Asian WW meals based on your glowing review! (Those WW deserts are too tempting for me though, I'll eat a whole box myself!) For breakfast, I just found a cereal that I love- Special K Protein Plus. It's high in protein, but not insane on the carbs. Add blueberries, and you've got a good morning on your hands!

The Cafe Steamers are the BEST!!! I have tried several different ones, and they get a THUMBS UP at my household! We belong to Sam's Club, and they sell them in a 6 pack, 2 of 3 different varieties. They are very tastey!!!

You know, there is zero waste (and little goes to yer waist) in those frozen dinners. I like to get bags of the "asian vegetables" and stir fry them, too...

Good morning my corgi friend :)

I tend to like most meals with Asian flavorings. But are those the ones that are not even refrigerated? Those sort of scare me...!!

I'll have to give the cafe steamers a try!

At our Wally world they have new 'fresh meals' in Weight Watchers.

The Fiber One bars in chocolate and oatmeal have 9 grams of fiber in it and you can use it as a treat too - tastes good.

Good luck.

Love what you're giving up (lol).

And love the song The Rose - talks about real courage.

Share? I would eat both the Smart ones myself to spare my other half the points...
Ok..Doggie Hubby joke of the day (Calorie free...burns lots of calories to laugh girls...so here goes)...
Want to see who is a WOMANS best friend? Lock your dog ( both of them if you have 2,the more the merrier) and your significant ( or UNsignificant if he is on your LIST today) in the trunk of your car....go to Wally world and shop for Smart Meals...for about an hour! Go back to your trunk after shopping and SEE who is MOST glad to see you ( Bet the doggies tails are wagin now) AND then you will know who is your BEST friend!
