Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm way on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

Loves and Loathes...

My daughter has been doing this on her blog, Changing Compass, and I wanted to jump on the bandwagon too. We need to think about things like this...thinking is good.

-warm edamame, lightly dusted with kosher salt
-shoulder rubs/squeezes while waiting in line somewhere with Jim. (oh my, it's heaven!)
-seeing green popping up...makes me think it's time to get out the rake!

-cruelty...I want kindness spread melted butter!
-seeing a dog, forgotten, put at the extreme far point of a property. Short chain, no blanket in the doghouse, and sitting in mud. Makes my blood boil, and one day, I will knock on their door!
-kids on cell phones, texting as they walk, not interacting with the pal walking beside them. Walking home from school was such an adventure..we kicked up leaves, yakked our heads off, plotted schemes, stopped for a nickel cherry coke and a penny pretzel. Sheesh, I'm not a hundred, but it sounds so, doesn't it?

-add cranky old ladies to the loathe list....I'll have to work on that!

This recipe, another from the Farmer's Almanac, got me salivating.
I'm going to give these a whirl when company is around.

Maple-Walnut Muffins.
Yield: 24 muffins

1-3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
3/4 cup maple syrup
1 cup sour cream
1 egg
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Warm maple syrup
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease muffin tins.

In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and baking soda and set aside.

In a medium bowl, beat the butter until smooth, then slowly add maple syrup, beating constantly. Beat in sour cream and egg. Stir in walnuts. Add the combined dry ingredients and stir just until blended.

Spoon into the prepared muffin tins, filling two-thirds full. Bake 12 to 16 minutes. Cool in tins 5 minutes, then move to a cooling rack. Dip muffin in syrup and dust with confectioners' sugar. Serve warm

Likes: Funny and sassy bloggies like yers.

New Like: Corgis, those lil' runts.

Loathes: Those meanies who don't care about animals! Makes me angry, too, but honey don't go to their house, they're wicked!

corgidogmama, great blog!

I've always wanted a Corgi. We had a dachshund for years and have 2 long-haired black cats now, brother and sister. He's lovey dovey and she is a spit-fire. But, I've always loved Corgis, so friendly and loving, maybe someday.

Animal cruelty upsets me to no end! Enough said!

And kids on cell phones - they've forgotten how to have fun and be in the moment with the person they are with.

My favorite like since blogging, is YOU!!! Love your attitude and style and wish I knew you in person. I just know we would hit it off and make them wonder what happened!

Hugs, Pam

I forgot to tell you way back when; I retired from a social service agency for people with disabilities. I worked in the administrative offices but, interacted daily with various activities with the clients. That's what it's all about and they all have a place in my heart as I'm sure they do with you.

I also love hollyhocks. Two years ago I tried starting them again and they finally made it over the winter so I can hardly wait for spring to see what develops.

Hope you have a wonderful, fun Thursday!

Enjoyed reading your likes/dislikes. I get angry about animal cruelty and abuse - I've posted about it many times. Animals are one of my major loves (right behind Mr. Wonderful!) and so I dislike people that are cruel to them!

Around here, we could call someone and report that dog owner… if not to Animal Control, then to one of the Rescues in the area and they would get it taken care of!

That Muffin Recipe sounds wonderful, but I’d have to use pecans since I’m allergic to Walnuts… still, I bet they’d be just as good!

I’ll bet those shoulder rubs DO feel WONDERFUL! Linda
