Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm way on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

Shits and Giggles...

This, is a wild turkey. This, crossed the country road in front of us this morning.
Why does the wild turkey cross the road you ask?
Well...it stopped in the middle of the road. It did not cross.
It was less than a foot away from the car. The corgis and I got up close and personal. Addie popped her head out the back window, and barked her itty bitty head off as she always does. Jake hid. As he always does. The bird didn't flinch.
Nobody blinked. I was imagining bloody scenes in my head...thinking,"do turkey birds attack?" I rolled up the back window and slowly pulled away.
The darn thing chased us.
For twenty five feet.
Addie looked out the back window, paws on the back seat, looking as if she couldn't believe the crazy sight.
Jake kept his head down, hoping it was all a bad nightmare.

Years ago, Jim and I camped at a northern state park in Indiana, called Chain-O-Lakes. We were surrounded by wild turkey creatures there while in our little red tracker. Seven or eight of them, looked inside our car windows, thinking we were the biggest red berry they had ever seen. These things were nearly as tall as our car windows. I have photos.

It was like that day all over again. Same red car. Same boldness. Either turkeys are really, really dumb.....or really, really scary.

I have seen wild turkeys attack. They are not nice when they decide to take you on. Don't like the things.

Our local sheriff (in a very busy DC suburban area) got called in for a wild turkey backing up traffic on a major commuter route. Check out this news story:

Too funny with Jake and Addie and the crazy turkey! We have lots of wild turkeys around here and ours are just plain dumb. There was a huge possum right up at our back door yesterday in the afternoon. Never see them in the day time. It drove the cats in the house crazy. Beware of turkeys!

Well, lets just say that turkeys are not the brightest creature that God ever created! Heehehee!!!

We have a 'bunch' of turkeys in the bottom fields that I got pretty close to the other day and they were be biggest 'wild' turkeys I've ever seen!!!

They have been enjoyin' the leftovers of the corn harvest and wheat harvest of last year.

God bless ya and have a fantastic Friday sweetie!!!

A few years ago a male turkey would come out of the bushes and chase cars down the coutry road where I was boarding my horses. It was hilarous to see him running behind cars. I WAS always glad to be inside the car!!

I guess his mate must have had a nest...that's the excuse I'll give him!

Maybe that turkey wanted to bond with you?!? I had one that followed as I rode on horseback - it would not leave, so I took it home and named it BeeBop! Since we lived in the city, I had to rehome it to someone who had a country home, and BeeBop lived to a good old age!!! He just wanted a friend! Turkeys are sweet!

Y'all come back now...
