Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Right now, I'm blessed to feel more content with life. I believe that kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

Poopie, doopie, doo...

We all have our own idea of heaven. Not particularly what heaven is like once our journey on earth is over...but our dreamy idea of what we think heavenly delight is here on earth. I do believe...other than being surrounded by grandchildren that don't live 700 miles away...this, would be mine. Ahhh, surrounded by corgis...... I cannot believe that lil' Emmy Lulu is old enough to be getting her kindergarten photo taken. School pictures have come a l-o-n-g way since my day back in 1957, and my kid's pics in '80-'81.
Living so far from the grands, and then seeing this photo, I realize just how much we have missed of their lives. It burns my butt. We get one go round, and I'm not happy missing out on so much. Granted, living closer could make the "big kids" uncomfortable...but, a nearby town...close enough to babysit, share holidays, being able to see them more than once or twice a year would be delightful. When we were rv'ing, we were able to see more of the kids, and be housed in a campground nearby. We could do our thing, and visit, and then go away. Perfect for everyone. We hope, and pray we'll be able to do that again, now that we're on the wrong side of 60. Retirement can't come fast enough. Will it ever happen? Sigh, we're wondering. Surely there is a money tree we can shake to make this happen. Why the heck do we have to be old and gray and bent and spent before we can retire and live, live, live? The last of my hormones must be kickin' in. It ain't pretty is it? Grrr, hear me roar!??

Susan, I wouldn't have recognized your sweetie from her pix just a year ago! Junior Sophisticate for sure!:)

I, too, find it so hard, being so far away from "my" grands in Alabama. We've DH's 6 here locally, but it's just not the same.

Wishin' you and the Corgi girls a sweet week!

I love the darling picture of the granddaughter and also the cut graphic with the corgis! When my grandkids were little, I was going to school and often broke so I didn't get to seem them often. It still bothers me that I missed so much of their childhood. Happily, I'm getting to enjoy the great grandkids however!

Emmy is a doll and growing up fast. Our grandson lives an hour away. But, they're so busy and jobs have his mom and dad traveling from one end of the country to the other every week. We all need to win the lottery. Here's hoping you get to see yours soon!

I am so lucky. All three of my grandkids live within twenty minutes of me.

When people ask me if I get tired of babysitting I'm surprised. There's nothing I would rather do!

Your life is similar to my own - grand kids are 6 hrs drive away, and with my current employment situation - - - well, visiting is going to be very difficult for a long long time....but, we do the best we can with what we are given, right??

I know what you mean... My oldest grandson is going to start HIGH SCHOOL this next year... Where did the time go! They live in TX and we've gotten to visit maybe 6 times in his lifetime... :(

I'm truly blessed, though that Mick and his family have moved into the house here while we've moved into a large trailer in the pasture (best for us because we couldn't keep up this big place with the health issues, etc.) Finally I have two grandchildren near me again.

We do have our corgis right with us, of course. 5 corgis and a border collie.

Your grand-daughter is so cute! Their school pics sure make them "grow up" quickly, though don't they!
