America is facing a huge challenge. Many of us are facing trials that we never have before. The American Dream is under fire, and burning up fast. I was reading an article at EverydayHealth.com and the title of it was:
8 ideas for Coping with Job Loss and Avoiding Depression.
1) Be realistic
2)Manage your money
3)Create a daily routine
4) Get emotional support
5)Learn how to manage stress
6)Set everyday goals for yourself
7) Don't isolate yourself
8) Maintain a healthy lifestyle
We could be in this mess for some time. I'm job-hunting. During the search, I'm on the call list for subbing in any of our local schools cafeterias. My girlfriend and I are taking a seminar of five workshops to whip our resumes into interesting reading, boost our interviewing skills, build on our strengths, and basically boost our egos.
Being 57, and trying to re-enter the job force (after two years of rv'ing and living the good life) when there are no jobs is murder on this ol' gal, believe me. What I'm trying to convey is... make use of this time in some way, if you're in the same fix. Take a class, read more, visit with your friends that you haven't seen for some time. Start walking, just do something, that's good for you...something you wouldn't normally do.
The gals, who I have met online, have made me feel better, made me laugh, and feel connected again. It's so strange, in a wonderful way, how women can care about each others lives eventho they have never met personally. Women are pretty cool. We have the WOW factor. We need to remember that.

you can always drive to NC for a little boost! welcome anytime! we'll leave the light on for ya!
Thanks so much for the post. I think it applies to all of us right now. No one is safe in every area. If we are fortunate to not be affected, many of us have children that are losing jobs and security. My prayers go out to everyone experiencing a difficult time.
Thanks for the corgi info! I appreciate all the good info. It will help me make a decision if they are right for us. Hugs,
Lorri
Women used to get together and support each other while canning fruits and veggies, having quilting bees, and cooking big meals for the men who were working in the fields or having barn raisings. Women were a great support group in the good ole days, and the ladies are still 'naturals' during these difficult times we're going through right now. We've all had to find ways to re-invent ourselves, and part of the re-invention has been the ways we support each other. Hang on tight, and we'll all make it through this economic mess! Blessings to you all.
Amen to your sentiments!
Yer post really hits home. It's so hard to be without a job, financially and emotionally...
First of all - I love your picture - Positive Proof of Global Warming - don't you think those things look so uncomforatable? I sure do.
Your right - the economy is sure in a bind and I'm afraid it will be for awhile. We'll have to tighten our belts and hold on.
Good luck in your job search.
And yes, the power of women - a gift from God. Years ago we lived closer together and did things together. It's much harder now - but thank goodness for the Internet. It's a gift - and so are you!
Very encouraging post! Its so very thoughtful that you take the time to write, post, and make us chuckle!
Love your pups!
I would like to get a Corgi some day--I think would make a good companion for my Buckeroo. It's my favorite breed in the smaller dog category.
Have a wonderful day and Blessings to You!

I don't know how I missed this post earlier, but it is a good one, I'm afraid it is going to get worse before this is over and you are right we need to stay busy or depression can take over our lives. There was a little boy 11 yrs old who played baseball last summer with my Grandson, his daddy lost his job in Nov and hasn't been able to find another one, his Mom went into such a depression that she killed herself last Friday...34 yrs old.
We have to stay postive and pray, it will get better soon.
