Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm way on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

I know what you mean concerning your comments about the shelters.

Several years ago our own county shelter was run by a bunch of wackos who said that they needed to send all of the animals to "heaven" because that was better for them than being in the shelter.

I was part of a sting operation concerning the shelter due to the fact that our county had strict rules about euthanasia and they weren't being followed.

The staff at the shelter was told that I would be coming by each day to take photos of the animals for pet finder. I'd go there and act really dumb, take the photos and come home to make my files and record my notes. After about four months the county commission had enough evidence to be able to fire all employees (they were union) and hire a whole new group!

We have a great shelter now. Lots of food and volunteers and medical care and clean cages and walks and fun toys for kitties. I cry when I think of what it used to be but am so proud that I helped to make changes. I have on my computer the photo of a little corgi mix gal that was pregnant. She came into the shelter and those heartless women put her down that same day because they said that puppies made a mess.

It was that dog that was the straw that broke the camel's back with the county. She didn't die in vain but I still cry when I see her photo and it's been 6 years.

Y'all come back now...
