Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm way on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

Not mine, but still good advice!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3.Keep learning. ! Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever, even ham radio. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's family name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6... The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive..

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it.. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help..

9. Don't take guilt trips.. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

Very good - especially about the 'trips' - guilt trips that is! Glad you could finally comment on my blog - you should start a pension fund for your computer - to replace it!!! Maybe a couple more long drives for Jim, and you can get a new one. And check out the Goodwill stores or craigslist for cheapo color TV sets - ya never know! I got a nice Oreck vacuum cleaner on craigslist last year!

What a PERFECT list! It mirrors just about EVERYTHING that I've been thinking lately!

Goodness! I just can't stand it!!! I SO get you and where you are at cause I'm about one step behind you, or maybe in front of you (don't know which of us is older:)

My hubby is getting sent out on a long run to MAYBE Florida? First they said S.C., then it was Houston, and now he is supposed to leave on Sunday to take this oil testing trailer to Florida to ship. (We are in Central CA) He will be gone almost two weeks and I'm not used to that anymore! He is the only one in his company (of 5 years now) that still has a Class A with endorsements.

I'd add Blogging friends to Number 7! Linda

Oh... P.S. At least he will drive through Houston and maybe get to have lunch with our daughter and grandsons, and where he is going in Florida is a couple of hours drive from where our oldest son lives, so he might get a chance to see him for a short visit too... he hopes... :)

"The devil's family name is Alzheimer's". Wow! Don't we all start worrying about that after a certain age? Whenever I find myself watching a TV show or movie and don't realize til it's half over that I saw it before...or I rush into a room and wonder why I'm there...or totally lose track of time...that nasty devil is lurking in the background.
