Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm way on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

Coffee thoughts...

Rolling the grass probably feels pretty good. Maybe we should all give it a whirl.

Why do dogs graze? Is it a latent bovine gene? Or do they just feel a yen for salad?

It's hollyhock time. They surround our cottage on a hill. Do you have them in your yard?

This is one reason why living in Indiana is nice. Scenery like this is everywhere. I never get tired of seeing it. Although a beach scene a couple times a year, would be good. Sandy feet, and coconut oil in the air....hmmmm...

(pay no nevermind to that darn date stamp on the photos...sheesh, they were taken today, but my camera is happiest when back in the day in 2004!)

I used to love to roll in the grass when I was little, then I grow up and let grown up thoughts get in the way. Momma's telling us don't roll in that grass you'll stain you clothes. you'll start itching, there are bugs in there, yata,yata,yata... Sheez liked it when I was to young and dumb to know better.
I was always told that when a dog felt bad they knew which grass to eat to make them feel better.??? always wondered myself.
I love pictures like that, I am not a beach person, wide open spaces and mountains for my thing...great picture.

I love all of your pictures--especially the ones of the Corgis looking at the sheep from the car window. I'm not much for beaches or wide vistas. I like lakes and woods, so I guess Minnesota is where I should be. I haven't rolled in the grass for a very long time, but the thought of it makes me smile! Thanks for sharing!

Why do our parents make us grow up too fast! I wish I still liked to play in the grass like my kids do. Stains, I don't care. They don't care either. They will wear them anyway with no complaints!

Dogs do eat grass when they have a tummy ache. Mine do it. I've seen one of my dogs eat grass and then throw up and be all better. I think it is great that they have a God given thing within them that lets them know just what to do for themselves.

Hugs,
Angela

I'm one of them weirdos who gets hives from grass. That's one reason I love my front yard being all ROCKS.

My dogs eat up the backyard grass, too. "What are they, cows or dogs???"

I have hollyhocks but they are just the first-year rosettes. Next year they should bloom...yours are just lovely.

Indiana sure is beautiful. Nothing beats the Midwest for rural beauty, that's for sure.

My fondest memory of hollyhocks is remembering them lined up along my grandparents' barn. Red, yellow, pink. I have some planted just for that. (Psssst--There are some BLACK ones growing along the Bluebird Cafe in Laketon. I am soooo going to some and grab a seedhead when they ripen. Marty would rather you stop and eat, but what the hey?) Hollyhocks seem sooo--English, somehow.

Your hollyhocks are gorgeous!!! Mine have many buds but no blooms yet. Do yours ever get that rust disease? It started in my this year and I sprayed them; they look OK now. They're a fantastic old flower! Great scenery and the Corgis fit in perfectly!

OC just LOVES rolling in the grass or on a rug... I used to like the grass, and if you are on a hill, you can just lay there and watch the clouds, finding things in them like animals, etc. I still like to do that with the little kids, but it's SO HARD to get back up now. :(

We used to have Hollyhocks, but since they are poisonous to horses, we got rid of them. I miss them though... they are so pretty!

I love the valleys, the mountains, the beach, the desert. As long as I have at least a dog by my side (family members are ok, too, sometimes...) I'm happy.

I MISS MY GIMILI (gim-ill-lee is how I often say it) He is always right beside my feet. I can hardly wait for him to get back from the vet tomorrow... Linda

Loved your post and photos. My horse Tango loves to roll and I love to watch him. He looks like a big beeched whale but he moves more quickly!

My little dogs like to roll too...especially if there's a new scent in the grass. My big foster dog (who I think we're keeping) doesn't seem comfortable enough to roll yet. Bet he will in a week or so!

Howdee! Your hollyhocks are lovely! And the grazing Corgi looks like my Sissy! Sad news about Sissy - I bathed her last week and found a lump like a Bratwurst on her tummy - I was shocked! It feels rock hard and I can't imagine what it is! I will be scheduling a vet appt. for her, but hope it isn't something that will require further testing or surgery...unemployment removes all hope of high vet bills from the budget. I am surly worried.

Y'all come back now...
