Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm way on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

Refinement...

Back in the day I was a hot head, well sorta.
Today I don't get into much of a hullabaloo over anything.
Am I passionless these days? Or...am I finally, at pushin' 60,
becoming somewhat "refined?" Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!

Don't get me wrong...Jim can trip my trigger, and the fire-breathing
dragon comes out for about thirty seconds, then I'm over it. I'll say
words that would make my mother clutch her chest, and sigh in despair.
I flare, then I'm done. He, will carry it around for days.....like most
men, I think. Sheesh, life's short I tell him, "get over yourself!"

He says I'm hard to live with. How, I wonder. I'm clean, neat, and tidy.
I like to cook, and am VERY undemanding of his time. When he's home, I back up
and give him space so that he can destress. ( Gee, wouldn't you like to live
with somebody like this?) HA!

However....if there are many chores that need to be caught up on, and he's the
only one to able to do them, and he's home for more than two nights...it ain't
pretty. I do believe that we "radiate" emotion sometimes. That, or else Jim
is very sensitive to my radioactivity! He gets the creeps being around me at
times like this. ( I seem so normal....but, in his eyes, I become the demon wife.)
Hmrph, go figure!

We're all odd somewhat, don't you think? We all have certain quirks, that only our
spouse sees, that most undoubtedly drive them NuTs. I'm not alone here, am I?
Peck, peck....uh....hello??? Anyone out there?

Anyhooo...

Have you tried McDonald's new oatmeal yet? Well, I did today, only because it was free. First of all...it must "sit" for at least 15 minutes to somewhat thicken.
It's a rather watery mess that looks extremely disappointing initially. Trust me.
Back away slowly, and leave it alone for fifteen minutes.
It's rather bland. I didn't get the brown sugar, thinking that the apple chunks/raisins/cranberries would sweeten and flavor it up. Wrong.
It would have been worth it to spend those extra thirty calories for the boost in wow factor. Trust me here. It cost six WW points to eat this. I will not waste six perfectly good WW points again on this wall papery paste mess.
Actually, wallpaper paste isn't too shabby.

Any differing opinions or personality confessions you want to share?
Don't leave me hangin' here girls....

Whew ... I feel SO much better, knowing I'm not the only one!

I'm slow to pitching snit-fits (must be part of my job requirement?), but there's more times than I want to admit when an ugly mood swing gets the better of me!
Once I get it out, I feel so much better ... but my DH is just the opposite. Poor guy takes my "stuff" so personally.

Maybe I'd be better suited to gloves and a punching bag at day's end?

I think it is a man thing, I say they have such a guilty conceinse because they aren't doing what they should, till they try to make it seem like you are wrong. My DH is always telling me how mean I am to him, cause I'll be busy and he ask, no tells me "get me another cup of coffe" and I say wait a minute I'm busy. He'll pout for a week. I say they are just spoiled men/boy brats.

Ok...so you don't want your bloggin girls to leave you hanging? You want someone to agree with you? You bring up the word...ODD?????
Well yep girlfriend ( I begin to giggle) GUESS who is HERE to share your grief...to say...oh my dear you are so right...MEN!!!!!! Do you suppose it has something to do with the name...JIM? ( Laughing some more!)
Really girl I find such humor in your post...words so true and you amze me that you are such a sweet(ahem..perhaps we should have popped for the calories and got the brownsugar..grin)..ok back to what I was saying...
What was I saying? Oh yeah....
About the humor in your post...
Since you are such a sweet little ol lady hey YOU admitted approaching 60...not me,,( really laughing lots) ANYWAY...
Your post has me really giggling because (ok almost rolling on floor) I love that you have openly admitted to your changing moods...lets face it reality here is telling me that when one admits they can perhaps have a short fuse...be HO-Hum and then in a second can blow up...I can connect with that!
ODD you ask...yes odd...as how can one lovely lady that admits she easily gets over things (although you NEVER know when she will blow) can post about hubby dear(????)AND oatmeal in the SAME post! Yep this is truly ODD to me...
There is a lesson to be learned from your post...
You have succeeded to remind me of#1 why after 17 years of dating I STILL am not sure if I'd marry him(my Jim not yours)
#2Thathe (my Jim not yours...has STILL not put on my air conditioner cover...grrrrrr!
#3 That menopausal women...should NOT be on a diet(did you see chattys peanut butter pie recipe?)
#4 That no wonder why I love you..YOU are one odd woman!
#5That I know know WHY we are friends....YOU write an ODD post...and I can relate...gain knowledge (really let it sit for 15 minutes) ANYWAY...YOU have set the agenda for my day...I am putting on the dam air conditioner cover myself...going to McDonalds from some of that oatmeal stuff...I'm asking for DOUBLE Brown sugar...AND I ain't talking to NO ONE but myself!!!!!

Hmmmm...This is odd...some of my comment was deleted or something by Google ( I hear they opted out for no brown sugar too)
Some of it barely makes sense!
Perhaps I should go back...edit...recomment or something (while I'm waiting these 15 minutes)
NOPE I am not FIXING it...I just remembered I'm not talking to anybody!

I always think of in "Harry met Sally" when she says "I'm difficult!" and he says "but in a good way." :-)
I am not NEARLY as passionate and fiery as I was when I was younger, but I still have my days. It is always me- the one that goes off. We had a good one recently. SIGH. me, me, me. Always me. the man is a saint I tell you.

Oh mu goodness -you know you are not alone. I could write a book - in fact I think I have.

I too think I am so very easy to live with. Witty - charming - hard worker - etc. and do you think my hubby agrees with me?

NO WAY!
I ask you how in the world can that be?

And thanks for the heads up on the oatmeal I was thinking of getting it.

And one last thing - I think you're great!

Love,
sandie

Hey Corgidogmama!

I'm afraid that I don't like oatmeal. Well, I take that back. I like oatmeal covered in CHOCOLATE! lol Oatmeal cookies or a oatmeal crusted pie but not hot oatmeal even with brown sugar. I also have to say that every since I tried to take back the recalled Shrek glass that they wouldn't take back because they said I was too late in getting it back to them, that I have banned McDonald's! I will not and do not go there anymore for anything at all! Have you tried Wendy's new fries? They are the BEST!

Hugs,
Angela

I'll take the "refined" label and wear it proudly. At a tad past 60 I just don't have the energy to get all worked up about things that used to drive me nuts. I tell myself I've mellowed. I do get cranky though, sometimes, and will be the first to admit that I must be hard to live with. Fortunately, DH still likes me enough to stick around. It might help that his hearing is not what it used to be ;)

I was wondering how that oatmeal was at Micky Dee's. Heard it cost about $3, and I was thinking it probably didn't have fresh fruit in it - packaged in China or some other country and shipped here in big boxes. Or maybe it is all dried and has to soak for a while?

I can be pretty "quirky," too. Most of the time I am very appropriate, but get me on the wrong minute and I can respond with a tone that can strip paint off the wall. That's almost always saved for work, when someone is a smarty and thinks this older woman can be walked all over. Ha!
I'm with Angela on oatmeal. Oatmeal cookies, yes! Wet breadstuff, no thank you.

Oh, yeah! I consider myself to be a mellow person, but sometimes the close confinement of winter does something to increase irritability.
Like you, I'm quick to get over it--but still...

I find the MacDonald's oatmeal commercials unappealing. I like my oatmeal with substance. The sloppy stuff they show need to be served in a cup? Really!

I have been thinking a lot lately about this very thing...for me..when I get mad at my hubby I am usually mad at myself for just sitting around doing nothing...and looking to take it out on someone. My husband will not fight..never has..I try to be good..I am better than I was..lol..sometimes I think every one should have their own little house and visit..saying we are all a little odd just about sums it up...I have believed that for a long time...My favorite expression now is "I used to get angry..now I am merely amused"..

Oh my God I don't know who is funnier you or Lady Jane...and I have to say, I finally found someone that leaves comments longer than me...and also funny we all three share the name Jim for a mate...my Jim who is up in heaven, I'm sure looking down and seeing the doors have not been pledged, or I haven't used comet in the sinks since he's been gone (16years), but I do use soft scrub... you see my Jim was the perfectionist...he was the neated cleanest guy around...he loved to cook, clean and garden...one would think, hummm gay....NO...a real mans man, who love to do what I didn't...BUT GIRLS, let me tell you after they are gone, you would give anything to be able to argue, have someone just to talk things over with...I will never get married again, for I know I would never find another man to cook, clean, or garden....oh and he was quite witty...I would add that to my list....LOL...My dog Buddy is the next best thing...he never talks back or complains, just wags his tail....(did I beat Lady Janes comment yet?)....this was a fun post Corgi...I'm still sitting waiting for the "big snow storm".. to arrive.. judy

Stumbled across your delightful blog via CorgiButts. Very funny post! I've had regular flare-ups lately that make even me wonder: Where did that come from? You described it to a T. Thanks for making me feel like I haven't totally lost my mind just yet, although hubs would definitely disagree :)
Oh, and don't even get me started on dwelling husbands :)

Around here, it's Robert that hits the snags in my character. In general, he keeps things running around the house, and it's truly a blessing having him here to help since I've had so many health problems. Since Hubby is working so much, we try to let him relax when he is home. I just have to do a lot of mediating because they often don't see "exactly WHAT" the other is doing...

Hubby and I only have a problem with the fact that I am a night owl and he is an early bird... not bad during the week, but the weekends.... :(

Actually, I sort of liked the oatmeal when I tried it around here. I think it DID have the brown sugar in it, though. I'd had a "craving" for oatmeal for about a week before I finally got some, and have made it at home since then. I always put in apples, raisins or dried cherries, butter, & Maple syrup in mine.

Y'all come back now...

Y'all come back now...

Everyone is special, and counts!
