Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm way on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

Fall Rites

There's just something special about Fall. The smells, the sounds, the sights of it just evokes so many memories, all pleasant. Well, except for that necessary raking, raking, raking. Overall, the sunshine on colored leaves, those impossibly blue skies, and the crisp air is enjoyable for all. People pull out their soup and cobbler recipes. Crock pots get the dust blown off them. Jackets and long sleeved clothing that we haven't thought of for months, feel oh so good to put on! Socks and flannel and afghans are pulled out of bottom drawers! Today just seemed like the perfect day to pull out the portable fire pit on wheels from the garden shed and use up that nice dry wood from 2009, leftover from our RV'ing days. Boy! Did it burn fast! The corgi girls sat at our feet as we encircled the warmth. Later, we brought out the hot dogs and enjoyed them as we gazed into the glowing coals. The day was overcast and cool. All the right elements for the rites of Fall.

I'll be right over! (lol)
Seriously, I'm soooo weary of this summer heat. You've just painted my idea of the perfect Autumn afternoon.

Color me GLAD to see your post, Miss Susan! :)))

That all sounds wonderful to me Corgidogmama! I've been wanting to have a bonfire at our house and have the youth group over. If the kids would help clean the house then it could happen! lol The more I try to get it clean the dirtier it gets!

I'm glad you're enjoying autumn after the dreadful hot and dry summer! I also glad that you're back blogging again!

I agree out of all four seasons fall is my favorite. The cooler temps make me feel more alive. The colors so vibrant. I bet the bonfire was so much fun with the 'girls.'

Love this post...even though it is almost Nov. when I'm reading it... fall is my favorite time of year...i guess because of all that you stated...years ago when my husband was alive, we lived around our firepit...and then we had a black poodle named Pierre...and Pierre would always walk around the fire pit...sparks flying and one time we looked and Pierre was smoltering...a spark landed on his back, didn't hurt him, because we quickly patted it out, without Pierre even having a clue... oh for memories...happy raking Corgi... judy

Sounds wonderful! We've had a fire the past two nights and hot dogs, too!
The animals love sitting around the fire almost as much as we do!
