Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm way on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

A darn good book!

~The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society~
This is an absolutely, wonderful book to read. I read it in two nights. The setting is in 1946, just after WW2, and Europe is trying to pull itself together again. Guernsey, a Channel Island, was occupied by Germans, and had it pretty rough. To ease the ugliness of those awful days, a group of locals created a reading group to brighten their days. Trouble is, they had to do it on the sly. The characters in this story grab you right away. You will miss them when you finish the last page. This, is a moving, captivating story, that makes you laugh out loud, and tear up. The story is told by reading the correspondence between these smart and delightful characters. Treat yourself, and read it. Blizzard? What blizzard?

Sounds like a great plot. I agree with your required blizzard attire! Except the muck boots are always at the door to let the Corgis out.

Yes... Books can be addicting. Especially series... they become like old friends...I'll have to try to get that one.

I've always loved Janette Oke, Thomas Kinkade, and Jan Karon's books. My newest Favorite Series that I HIGHLY recommend to everyone is the Secret of the Rose Series by Michael Phillips... They have EVERYTHING... The first book, "Eleventh Hour" starts in Germany (1932 I think) just before WW2 and the last one that I'm reading now is in the 1980's just after the wall came down. Historical romance, how Christian people smuggled some of the jews out from under the Nazi's and the Communists, action, adventure, WONDERFUL Christian content... I can't say enough good things about them...
