Summing it Up...

Now, that I'm way on the wrong side of sixty, I feel that being true to self is important. "I yam, what I yam." Kindness and smiles are to be given away. Women are strong. Men are more vulnerable than we believe. Husbands may come and go...but one thing I know for sure is that I will NEVAH live without a corgi or coffee in my life if I can prevent it. Come piles of dog fur or hot water!

Words of wisdom, obviously...not mine!

This is the time of year that really gets to me, and most likely, many of you out there. It's the doldrums, the dive that follows the holidays, the poopy cycle of winter. You know what I'm talking about~ Here are some tips, not mine, but an email forward from a great gal in Illinois...doing these should help us all year long.
1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner
like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less
food that is manufactured in plants..
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
5. Make time to pray.
6. Play more games
7. Read more books than you did in 2009 ..
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily.
And while you walk, smile.
11. Don't compare your life to others...
You have no idea what their journey is all
about..
12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control.
Instead invest your energy in the positive present
moment.
13. Don't over do.. Keep your limits.
14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
16. Dream more while you are awake
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
18. Forget issues of the past.Don't remind your partner
of mistakes of the past. That will ruin
your present happiness.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate
others.
20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

Y'know, reading these over, it all seems so simple...but doing this list is very hard...life gets in the way, as does emotion. We are a complex bunch...and, being menopausal and beyond...oh my, just throws a wrench into the whole big picture of it all!

I received your list in an email, and I saved it! It's a good one to re-read and attempt to do in 2010! Have a happy day!

how great it would be if we could all live by these rules, like you said they all sound so simple...but I can assure you we as humans will try to over complicate them...
Hope you have a great week. We are getting snow flurries again here in South Mississippi...

These aren't my most favorite days either. I am really keeping a focus on eating well -- at least a lot better than I have for the last few weeks -- and steering clear of sugar. So far, so good. I'm going to pamper myself a little...buy a magazine and leave the cleaning for awhile. Watch a semi-junky show on television and don't feel guilty and a nice cup of tea every evening.

If each of us adhered to your list diligently throughout the year, just imagine what a wonderful place we've have to share☺

I love the line "Don't take yourself so seriously, nobody else does." I'm prone to worrying about what everyone thinks of me. It's good to be reminded that they don't care what I do as long as I behave myself.

Well, with two of my crew going back to school - I am a little less stressed these past two days.

I do have to admit - January is one of the longest months for me.

I would like to add: Rescue a pet (sheltie or corgi preferred...hehe) and they will keep you active, healthy, happy, and full of energy! Excellent post! Thanks!

I can just see your Corgi's eyeing you to see if you're grabbing the car keys to go for a ride! So darn cute!

Y'all come back now...
